004 - Is ADHD a disorder?
On this weeks episode I am talking about a different way of looking at ADHD and that is that we do not have a disorder, we are just a different neurological type.
In a different time many thousands of years ago we as ADHDers would have been successful hunters. The ADHD traits were needed for survival however as we moved into agriculture the new skills that were needed were to be able to stay still and do the same thing day in and day out in, the ability to stay on task, finish the job and then wait for the fruits of your labour.
The world is now set up with farmer in mind but the hunter brain type still exists and is still needed.
Listen as I explain the hunter-farmer theory in more detail.
I fully subscribe to this philosophy because it’s far more empowering and it just makes sense.
Full credit for this theory goes to Thom Hartmann and his book “Attention Deficit Disorder - A different perspective”.
